Grilled Pear and Bacon Pizza recipe
Cooking a pizza on the grill is the closest you can get to authentic Italian pizza cooked over an open flame right in the comfort of your patio. Topped with sweet pears, thick bacon slices, and creamy Fontina cheese, this recipe is simply divine.
Ingredients List:
½ pound prepared pizza dough
Cornmeal or flour, for dusting
1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil, as needed
1 cup packed arugula leaves
½ cup shredded Fontina cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pear, cored, thinly sliced
6 slices thick bacon, cut into cubes, cooked until almost crisp
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary leaves
Directions:
1. Preheat grill to medium-high.
2. Roll dough into a 12- to 16-inch crust. Place on a baking tray dusted with cornmeal or flour. Lay crust on grill, cover, and cook until slightly puffed and browned, 4 minutes.
3. Using tongs, flip crust. Brush surface with olive oil, top with arugula, cheeses, pears, and bacon. Lightly drizzle with additional oil and sprinkle with pepper.
4. Cover and cook until cheese has melted and bottom of crust is golden, about 4 minutes. Remove from grill, sprinkle with rosemary, slice, and serve.
